The International Programme for the Development of Communication (IPDC) supported the national project prepared by the Adil soz International Fund on the protection of the Freedom of Speech jointly with UNESCO Almaty Office on the measurement of safety of journalists in Kazakhstan in 2022. The Project will be launched with the Multistakeholder Advisory Board on 2 November 2022 within International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists at Kazakhstan press club. #EndInmpunity
The project will focus on UNESCO's Journalism Safety Indicators and will compare measurements of the year 2020 and 2022 to identify trends and actions in Kazakhstan based on the gathered data. The measurements are contributed to the Global UN Plan of Action on the safety of journalists and the issue of impunity, its 10th anniversary is marked in 2022.To mark the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists, a conference convened by the Austrian Minister of Foreign Affairs, in cooperation with UNESCO and the OHCHR, will take place in Vienna, Austria, on 3-4 November 2022.

UNESCO will share resources for civil servants (law enforcement agencies, prosecutors, and judges) as input to the national plan of action for the safety of journalists.
