Presentation of new projects and materials on the occasion of the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development

On the occasion of the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development (21 May), UNESCO Almaty Cluster Office is holding a presentation of its new “Strengthening Digital Literacy Skills and Competencies and Promoting Gender Equality in Cultural and Creative Sectors in Central Asia” project, as well as the Central Asian presentation of the “Re|shaping policies for creativity: addressing culture as a global public good; executive summary” publication and presentation of the “ÓNERMEN KEZDESÝ” project by our partners from the “Art of Her” creative media-platform. This online / offline event will be held on Friday, 20 May 2022, from 10:30 to 13:00 (Almaty time).



Programme

Presentation of the “Strengthening Digital Literacy Skills and Competencies and Promoting Gender Equality in Cultural and Creative Sectors in Central Asia” Project.

“Strengthening Digital Literacy Skills and Competencies and Promoting Gender Equality in Cultural and Creative Sectors in Central Asia” Project is a new project of UNESCO Cluster Office in Almaty funded by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Korea via the UNESCO/Korean Fund-in-Trust as part of the UNESCO’s “Digital Creativity Lab”. This project planned for 2022-2023 is in line with the guiding principles and objectives of the UNESCO 2005 Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions and its overarching goals to support sustainable systems of governance for culture, to promote human rights and fundamental freedoms. This project focuses on three outputs:
• Audit and identification of specific digital skill gaps in three selected cultural and creative sectors (cinema, music and organization of culture events);
• Collection and analysis of data on women working in three selected digital cultural and creative sectors to inform policy making;
• Establishment of an online training programme in Russian to strengthen the digital skills and competencies of three selected cultural and creative sectors to fully participate in the ongoing changes to the cultural value chain.

Presentation of the “Re|shaping policies for creativity: addressing culture as a global public good; executive summary” publication.

“Re|shaping policies for creativity: addressing culture as a global public good” is a new UNESCO report is part of the Global Report series designed to monitor the implementation of the latest UNESCO Convention in the field of culture – the 2005 Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions. First published in 2015, it is UNESCO’s third edition of this flagship Global Report. The 2022 Global Report draws on the most recent and relevant data on a global, regional and national scale to measure progress, identify persisting or new challenges and set priorities towards the achievement of the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda within and with the cultural and creative sectors. The scope of the publication is to produce and share knowledge to inform, inspire and drive policy change and measures that ensure diverse and dynamic cultural ecosystems that are fair for creators, accessible to audiences and beneficial for society at large. The executive summary of this report was recently translated to Russian by UNESCO Almaty Cluster Office and will be presented for the first time by Anupama Sekhar, member of UNESCO Expert Facility and one its authors.

Launch of the “Art of Her” creative media-platform “ÓNERMEN KEZDESÝ”

“Ónermen Kezdesý” project is new series of educational and networking meetings organized by “Art of Her” Creative Media Platform. It focuses on creating favorable conditions for networking and assisting in the implementation and development of personal and business qualities of women engaged in the field of art. The following speeches are planned as part of this presentation:
