Every year the whole world celebrates World Science Day for Peace and Development on November 10, aiming to draw attention on the importance of Science, Technology and Innovation in achieving sustainable development goals. The latest edition of the UNESCO Science Report will be launched this year on occasion of this celebration.

World Science Day for Peace and Development was proclaimed by the UNESCO General Conference in 2001 and since then has been celebrated annually all over the world. This year's theme Science for a Sustainable Future highlights the significant contribution of Science, Technology and Innovation to sustainable development, which is recognized in the recently adopted 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

This year on the occasion of World Science Day UNESCO presents its Science Report 2015 which will be officially launched today at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris. UNESCO Almaty Office is also planning to organize a launch event of the Report. Prepared by a team of international experts, UNESCO Science Report provides an analysis of global trends in research and development, based on numerous qualitative and quantitative data. Every five years, it analyses emerging trends in science, technology and innovation policy and governance. The UNESCO Science Report is one of the tools that countries can use to monitor progress towards the goals of Agenda 2030.
